About the estate
The Chateau de Cointes estate is located in the northeastern part of the Malepère massif in Roullens and traces its origins back to the consuls André and Jean Cointes in 1646. Today, the family-run property is managed by François and Anne Gorostis, who took over and continuously modernized the winery. Spanning 21 hectares of vineyards, the grape varieties include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Cinsault, Syrah, and Vermentino. Farming has been conducted without herbicides since the first certified organic vintage in 2022, and vinification utilizes modern techniques with maturation in concrete tanks, lined steel tanks, and barrels depending on the cuvée. Half of the production is sold to wine merchants, while the other half is exported to Northern European countries and Asia.
The estate sells to retail and importers. Export markets include United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
