About the estate
Founded around 1870 in Banyuls-sur-Mer, the Domaine de la Casa Blanca estate is one of the oldest producers in the Banyuls and Collioure appellations on the Côte Vermeille in the Roussillon region. Spanning eight hectares of terraced plantations and old vines on schist soils, the winery produces full and generous wines, specifically still Collioure and natural sweet Banyuls. Chemical fertilizers were replaced by compost in 1989, and synthetic phytosanitary products have been abandoned since 2001. Vineyard management involves grazing by the estate's sheep followed by winching tillage from February to June. The wines are crafted traditionally using indigenous yeasts with moderate sulfur additions, and are aged in barrels ranging from 400 to 600 liters for varying durations.
