About the estate
The Château Fonsalade estate is a historic wine producer located in the heart of Languedoc, founded in 1839 and managed by the Barbe family. Covering 32 hectares of vineyards within the Saint Chinian and Roquebrun appellations, the winery utilizes a diverse mosaic of seven different soil types, including limestone and schist. These varied terroirs yield structured, fruity as well as silky and velvety red, white, and rosé wines. The property follows sustainable farming practices, holds HVE3 certification, stopped using chemical herbicides in 2020, and is currently in conversion to organic agriculture. In addition to wine, the estate also produces olive oil and honey.
