Tapada do Chaves

About the estate

The Tapada do Chaves estate is located in Portalegre in the Alentejo region and encompasses 32 hectares of vineyards. The history of the winery dates back to the early 20th century, when the Chaves family planted the first vineyards on the slopes of the Serra de São Mamede. The property includes two of the oldest producing vineyard parcels in Alentejo, recorded in the years 1901 and 1903. The production combines traditional vinification techniques with modern technologies alongside sustainable and biodynamic practices. For maturation, the estate relies on aging in Portuguese and French oak casks.
