About the estate

The Herdade da Cardeira estate, managed by Erika and Thomas Meier, is located in the Borba region of the Alentejo in Portugal. In 2010, the Swiss couple acquired the existing property, which features soils characterized by marble and limestone. Vineyard management and grape harvesting are carried out exclusively by hand, while state-of-the-art technology is utilised in the cellar. Following careful selection, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently aged in French oak barrels. This process results in robust, fruity red wines and aromatic white wines that are distributed internationally.

The eno directory lists 17 wines, mostly from Tinta Caiada and Touriga Nacional. The estate sells to retail.
