About the estate

The Schiefer.pur estate was founded in 1990 by Uwe Schiefer in Welgersdorf in southern Burgenland. The cultivated vineyard area covers ten hectares with a focus on red wine varieties such as Blaufränkisch, complemented by Pinot Noir, Merlot, and white grape varieties. The wines grow on distinctive soils including the iron- and slate-rich Eisenberg. In the vineyard, the focus is on puristic, close-to-nature viticulture with herbs growing between the vine rows. In the cellar, the grapes are processed gently through spontaneous fermentation and slow aging in casks.

The eno directory lists 38 wines, mostly from Blaufränkisch and Merlot.
