About the estate
The Gatell family winery, located in Bonastre, Catalonia, looks back on an agricultural history of the Mas Gatell estate dating back to the 16th century. Since the late 20th century, the Jiménez Ruiz family has managed the estate, modernizing the facilities and expanding the vineyards to 35 hectares. Using organic farming methods and manual harvesting, they produce exclusive sparkling wines under the Cava DO and Cava – Comtats de Barcelona denominations. Annual production is limited to 26,000 bottles. A defining characteristic of the winery is the complete fermentation of the base wine in French oak barrels, followed by extended aging for their Brut Nature cavas.
