About the estate
The Bodegas Casa Castillo estate was founded in 1941 by José Sánchez-Cerezo in Jumilla and is currently managed by his grandchildren. The vineyards cover 170 hectares within a 420-hectare property situated on the slopes of the Sierra de El Molar. Farming is conducted organically on calcareous sandy soils under the conditions of a dry climate. The key grape varieties cultivated are the native Monastrell alongside Garnacha and Syrah using traditional dry-farming methods. Winemaking relies on indigenous yeasts, traditional fermentation, and maturation in used barrels and large oak vats.
