About the estate

The traditional winery Weingut Binz in Nackenheim looks back on a history of over two hundred years and is managed by the winemaker family. The vineyards extend across the Nackenheim sites Rothenberg, Engelsberg, and Schmitts-Kapellchen. Riesling and Silvaner thrive on the red slate soils of Rothenberg and Engelsberg, while Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Spätburgunder, Dornfelder, and Merlot grow on the loess-loam soils of the Schmitts-Kapellchen site. Vineyard management includes targeted crop thinning and leaf removal. In the cellar, white wines undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, whereas red wines are traditionally fermented on the skins and partially aged in wooden barrels.
