About the estate

The Talha de Frades estate in Vidigueira, Alentejo, is run by the Frade family, who have preserved the tradition of winemaking in clay amphorae for over 50 years. Current patriarch Alexandre Frade continues his father's heritage, focusing exclusively on the production of natural amphora wines that combine traditional methods with new techniques for longevity and complexity. The winery relies on the millennia-old, natural process of spontaneous fermentation in clay vessels without artificial intervention. The wines are protected under the Alentejano IG and Alentejo DOC denominations, reflecting the historical craftsmanship of the region.
