About the estate
The Fragospito Winery was established in 1906 when the great-grandfather Emmanuel Gavalas planted the first vineyards. At that time, grapes were pressed using Minoan rock-cut wine presses located in the village of Agios Thomas, and the must fermented in large clay jars. The resulting wine was transported in leather flasks to be sold in local taverns and shops. Today, the estate continues this long-standing history, operating in the region of Crete with the protected geographical indication Crete PGI.
