About the estate
The Clos Basté estate was founded in 1998 through the acquisition and restoration of an old, ruined farmhouse in Moncaup. Chantal and Philippe Mur manage ten hectares of vineyards, divided into seven hectares for red wine and three hectares for white wine. The vines are planted on various soils including gravelly clay in Saint-Lanne as well as clay-limestone and rolled pebbles in Hagedet. Certified organic since 2008, the estate applies natural soil management and herbal preparations in the vineyards. In the cellar, all grapes are harvested by hand, followed by gentle maceration using indigenous yeasts and maturation in tanks or large barrels.
