About the estate

The Zahel estate is a traditional family winery based in Vienna with a history spanning decades and is run by the Zahel family. In 1989, Richard Zahel took over the business, which initially comprised less than one hectare and has since expanded to 35 hectares of vineyards across all wine regions of the city. The production focus lies on Wiener Gemischter Satz DAC as well as biodynamic wines produced according to Demeter guidelines. In addition to winemaking, the family runs a traditional wine tavern offering authentic Viennese cuisine and homemade specialties. The team places great emphasis on craftsmanship, a connection to nature, and the preservation of family traditions.
