About the estate
The Franz Wieselthaler estate is located in Oberlaa on the southern outskirts of Vienna, with the Wieselthaler name first documented in 1628. What began in the 1950s as a sideline involving livestock and general agriculture is now dedicated exclusively to viticulture across eight hectares of vineyards. On the primarily sandy-loam soils of the Laaerberg, Wiener Gemischte Satz DAC thrives alongside Burgundy varieties and red grape varieties such as Zweigelt and the barrique-aged Merlin. Managed by Franz Sr. and Franz, the winery produces hand-harvested wines and offers direct sales at the estate alongside a traditional wine tavern.
