About the estate

The Zähringer estate in Heitersheim looks back on a long history that began in 1844 and is managed today in the sixth generation by Fabian Zähringer. Viticulture in the region is shaped by the proximity to the Rhine, the Black Forest, Alsace, and Switzerland. Since the late nineteen-eighties, cultivation has been strictly organic, with the winery later adopting biodynamic methods as well. The focus centers on healthy grapes from vital vines harvested predominantly by hand. For maturation, the estate relies on traditional wooden casks, the traditional Vierlig barrels, and French barriques.
