About the estate
The Vollenweider estate cultivates the exceptionally old plot Im Reiler in the Wolfer Goldgrube along the Mosel, which has never undergone land consolidation. Work in the southwest-facing vineyard is carried out exclusively by hand on grey slate without the use of machinery. The wines are produced from old vines, in some years including a share of ungrafted vines reaching an age of up to 100 years. Viticulture is practiced following the principle of perpetual cultivation by replacing individual dead vines, creating a mosaic of vines of varying ages. The resulting wines are deep and complex with a salty core.
