About the estate

The Weingut Schäffer GbR is one of Mainfranken's oldest family estates, with the family documented in Escherndorf on the Main since 1524. Today, siblings Peter and Sophie Schäffer run the estate in the fourth generation on the sunny slopes of the Volkach loop of the Main. In the vineyards, the team avoids the use of herbicides and insecticides, while in the cellar they rely on time, natural maturation, and no cultured yeasts. This approach in a natural environment creates complex, long-lived, and dry wines with a distinct character. The estate's philosophy and actions are significantly shaped by the principles of VDP and SlowFood.
