About the estate
The Weinbau Markus Held estate located in Ottoberg in German-speaking Switzerland has been managed in the third generation by Markus and Priska Held since 1996. Covering about one hectare of vineyard area on the Ottenberg, the vines thrive on sandy loam soils originating from lateral moraines of the last ice age. The grape variety portfolio includes the primary variety Pinot Noir, Merlot, the local Müller-Thurgau, and the robust variety Souvignier Gris. The winery operates according to organic principles and refrains from using chemical-synthetic fertilizers and crop protection agents to preserve biodiversity. Harvesting is carried out by hand with a strong focus on clean grape selection to produce pure-tasting wines.
