About the estate
The Torcilacqua estate was taken over by Matteo Mariotti in June 2018 and is located in Badia a Passignano in the heart of Chianti Classico. The vineyards stretch at an average altitude of 350 meters on the south to southwest-facing slopes opposite the historic abbey. With an average planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare, the cultivated grape varieties are Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvesting is done manually in crates, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and subsequent maturation in wooden barrels and stainless steel. The annual production comprises various wines such as Chianti Classico and Toscana IGT.
