About the estate

The Tenuta Canonica a Cerreto estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico in Castelnuovo Berardenga and traces its origins back to a foundation by the canons of Siena around the year 1000. Over the centuries, the historic buildings were transformed by the noble Cerretani family and the Curia of Siena before returning to private ownership four decades ago. Situated at an altitude of 350 meters, the property spans sixty hectares, with 21 hectares dedicated to vineyards. With an annual production of 150,000 bottles, the winery produces Chianti Classico DOCG in Annata and Riserva versions as well as the Toscana IGT Sandiavolo. The red wines are primarily based on Sangiovese, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
