About the estate
The Sagesse des Sols estate was founded in 2020 by Cathy and Fred, who transformed the family winery in Martigne Briand towards organic viticulture. The vineyards overlook the Layon on sandstone schists crossed by localized quartz veins and a sandy-clay subsoil. The vineyard includes grape varieties such as Chenin, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pineau d'Aunis, with several vines being over 50 years old. Agricultural practices focus on biodiversity, soil nourishment with local manure, and cover crops. In the cellar, the production aims for expressive wines centered on fruit, freshness, and balance, including sparkling wines with extended bottle aging.
