About the estate
The Höfer Sekt estate was founded in 1994 by Karin and Carsten Höfer and is based in the Zellerau district of Würzburg. Initially, the winery concentrated entirely on contract sparkling wine production for other estates before shifting its focus increasingly to its own brand. The grapes for the sparkling wines come from selected suppliers and grow predominantly on shell limestone soils as well as partly on keuper soils. The grape variety spectrum includes Chardonnay, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Early Burgundy, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling. Following whole cluster pressing, the base wines are mostly aged in wood, undergo malolactic fermentation, and mature on the lees for extended periods.
