About the estate

The Domaine Alain Mathias estate in Burgundy was founded in 1982 by Alain Mathias, who established vineyards in Epineuil and Chablis and built a cellar inside a former stone quarry near Tonnerre. Since 2015, the winery has been managed by Carole and Bastien Mathias, who continue the philosophy initiated by the founder, including the transition to organic farming in 2013 and the refinement of vinification using barrels, sandstone jars, and terracotta eggs. The vineyard holdings are situated across the terroirs of Chablis and the Tonnerrois region, cultivating Chardonnay on Chablis soils and Pinot Noir on the slopes of Epineuil. The production encompasses appellations such as AOC Chablis, AOC Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey, AOC Petit Chablis, AOC Bourgogne Tonnerre, and AOC Bourgogne Epineuil.
