About the estate

The Castello di Monsanto estate in Barberino Tavarnelle was founded in 1961 by Aldo Bianchi and is currently managed by Fabrizio and Laura Bianchi. The total of 72 hectares of vineyards are distributed across four sites at altitudes between 280 and 320 meters, with Sangiovese forming the primary share of the plantings. The grape variety portfolio is complemented by Canaiolo, Colorino, as well as the international varieties Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate profile is shaped significantly by the production of the first Chianti Classico cru and a historic cellar housing an extensive bottle archive.

The eno directory lists 10 wines, mostly from Sangiovese and Canaiolo.
