About the estate
The Cantina del Tufaio estate is located in Zagarolo in the Roman countryside and is run by the family across six generations. The origins of the winery date back to 1881, when the ancestors built the farmhouse and excavated a tuff cave. The vineyards lie on volcanic soils between the Castelli Romani and the Prenestini Mountains. Farming has been organic since 2017, complemented by manual harvest and spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts from the grapes. The portfolio includes the flagship traditional method sparkling wine, which ages in the historical tuff cave.
