About the estate
The wine estate Az. Agr. Frank Cornelissen was established in 2001 in Sicily, Italy, and encompasses 24 hectares of vineyards situated on the northern valley of the active volcano Etna. The vineyards are located at altitudes between 600 and 1,000 meters, featuring 13 hectares of old vines trained in the traditional free-standing alberello system and 9 hectares converted into modern rows. The estate minimizes soil tilling, avoids chemical treatments in the vineyard, utilizes buckwheat for soil rebalancing, and plants ungrafted vines derived from original selections. Harvesting is conducted manually in multiple passes from mid-October to early November, followed by fermentation in small neutral tubs and aging in neutral vessels including epoxy tanks and buried terracotta jars. The winery is listed in the Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia.
The eno directory lists 6 wines, mostly from Nerello Mascalese.
