About the estate

The Weingut Sonnenbrunnen estate located in Freiburg in the Baden wine region was founded in 1984 by Jörg Scheel. As the city's first organic winemaker, he began his career in organic viticulture without a single vine or barrel. Today, the estate manages 5 hectares of organic vineyards planted with numerous different organic grape varieties. In this organic approach, artificial fertilizers and chemical-synthetic pesticides are entirely avoided, and the estate is also a member of ECOVIN. In addition to wines, the business produces fine fruit spirits, sparkling wine, and secco in its own distillery.
