About the estate
The Maximin Grünhaus estate in Mertesdorf on the Mosel looks back on a winemaking tradition that dates back to Roman times and is historically connected to the Saint Maximin monastery. Today, the winery is managed by Maximin von Schubert and his family. Spanning 34 hectares of vineyards, 90 percent are planted with Riesling, alongside five percent Pinot Noir and five percent Pinot Blanc. The vines grow in the three monopole VDP.GROSSE LAGEN sites of Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg, which are named after the old monastery hierarchy. The grapes are cultivated with the highest quality standards, and the wines undergo spontaneous fermentation.
The eno directory lists 15 wines, mostly from Riesling and Pinot Blanc.
