About the estate
The Matheus estate in Trittenheim and Neumagen-Dhron along the Middle Moselle has been run as a family business across three generations since approximately 1656. Across a vineyard area of about 7.5 hectares on steep slopes with ancient slate soils, the estate primarily cultivates Riesling alongside varieties such as Rivaner, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The winery follows environmentally conscious practices featuring greened vineyards, reduced yields, and selective manual harvesting. In the cellar, gentle processing with slow fermentation and extended aging on the fine lees is employed to make the terroir palpable. All operations from planting to final sales are handled entirely by the family.
The eno directory lists 17 wines, mostly from Riesling and Dornfelder.
