About the estate

The Weingut Hubertus M. Apel estate is a traditional family winery in Nittel in the Upper Moselle region, active in viticulture since 1477. Steep south-southwest-facing slopes, heat-retaining shell limestone, and the Moselle river shape the climate of the vineyards. The focus lies on producing characterful wines such as Elbling and Burgundy varieties. Out of conviction, the estate refrains from using insecticides and botryticides, instead strengthening the vineyards through diverse cover crops of herbs, flowers, and grasses. Today, the family winery is run in the fourth generation by the brothers Philip, Johannes, and Matthias.
