About the estate

The U mattà estate located in Ranzo, Liguria, is managed in family tradition by Luca Deperi. The family roots trace back to ancestors from Corsica, with agriculture and olive cultivation dating back to the nineteenth century before Alberto Deperi pioneered the cultivation of the Pigato variety by planting the first important vineyard in 1963. Covering one hectare of vineyard area, the estate farms its plots by hand on red, clayey soil rich in crumbly stones situated between the sea and the mountains. Farming is conducted organically without chemical shortcuts, relying on observation and natural methods to harvest healthy and vibrant grapes. In a simple cellar, artisanal wines are produced entirely without added yeasts and with very low levels of sulfites.
