About the estate
The Schnabl winery in Retz was converted to organic farming by Peter Schnabl in the early 1990s and is now run by his son Markus Schnabl. To maintain soil health, the estate relies on cover crops and the natural introduction of humus. During the vegetation period, great importance is attached to foliage management and yield reduction, while plant protection is carried out exclusively with agents approved for organic farming. Following gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation, the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks. The aim is to produce wholesome, region-typical wines with a character true to their variety and vintage.
The eno directory lists 2 wines, mostly from Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt. The estate sells to retail and distributors. Export markets include Germany, Belgium, Slovakia and Czechia.
