About the estate

The Schmitt Pierre Paul & Fils estate is headed today by Patrick Schmitt, with the family drawing on the experience of several successive generations of winemakers. The business was founded in 1946 by grandfather Joseph Schmitt, who began vinifying his own production and commercializing it in bottles. The eight-hectare vineyard is distributed across the slopes of the hills of Katzenthal and Ammerschwihr. The wines of the estate are mostly single-varietal wines, vinified and selected with respect for the terroir. For the maturation of the harvest, the winery utilizes both traditional wooden vats and modern stainless steel tanks.
