Les Chais du Vieux Bourg

About the estate

The Les Chais du Vieux Bourg estate was founded in 2003 by Ludwig Bindernagel and Nathalie Eigenschenck in the Jura region. The vineyards largely feature vines aged 40 to 50 years, comprising traditional varieties such as Chardonnay à queue rouge, Savagnin jaune, and Savagnin noir. The vines are rooted across three geological layers, including a limestone stratum rich in fossils that imparts a singular character to the wines. All vineyard work is conducted manually, surpassing organic farming protocols through the minimal use of copper and sulphur. Vinification is carried out traditionally in old oak barrels without modern oenological interventions to authentically express the terroir.
