About the estate
The La Pieve estate is located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate in Tuscany, in the immediate vicinity of the Abbey of St. Antimo. The property was acquired in 1986 by Robert and Bettina Baumann, who decided to start professional wine production following initial successful plantings of Sangiovese. The vineyards are situated in a favored terroir with sites sloping down towards the Orcia river. On a small vineyard area, the estate produces traditional wines such as Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, and a blend featuring Cabernet Sauvignon under the St. Antimo DOC denomination. The total annual production amounts to a few thousand liters.
The eno directory lists 3 wines, mostly from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.
