La Castellada

About the estate

The La Castellada estate was founded in 1985 in Oslavia by the brothers Giorgio and Nicolò, who decided to transition from selling bulk wine to estate-bottling their production. The winery farms ten hectares of vineyards situated on soils composed of Eocene marl and sandstone sediments, technically known as flysch or ponca. The vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate influenced by fresh and windy air coming from the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Vineyard management relies entirely on cover cropping to regulate water without irrigation, using only copper and sulfur for plant protection. This approach yields complex, structured wines that express the characteristics of the Collio DOC denomination.
