About the estate
The winery J. Trautwein feine Weine based in Lonsheim is run as a fourth-generation family estate and released its debut vintage in 2019. Farming follows organic practices under the certificate DE-ÖKO-005, omitting herbicides and mineral fertilizers. The team includes Dirk Trautwein, a diploma oenologist, and Johannes Trautwein, who holds a degree in viticulture and oenology. For the Fasan line, grapes are sourced from the Westhofener Morstein site, where the 2019 Riesling was awarded Gold at the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting. The estate is listed in the directory of Rheinhessenwein e.V. The catalog comprises two wines from the 2019 vintage, featuring a Sauvignon Blanc and a Riesling under the Fasan line. Yields range from 50 to 80 hectoliters per hectare for the Rebhuhn Terroirweine line and 35 to 50 hectoliters per hectare for the Fasan Lagenweine line. Distribution is conducted via direct sales.
The eno directory lists 23 wines, mostly from Riesling and Chardonnay.
