EcoJarr - Grotto PiVino

About the estate

The family-run estate EcoJarr - Grotto PiVino cultivates the zum Chriz vineyard at 800 metres above sea level in the municipality of Ergisch in Valais. Run as a part-time venture, the winery has specialized entirely in the cultivation of robust fungus-resistant PIWI grape varieties, replacing all traditional varieties with three white and eight red PIWI varieties. In the vineyard, the use of sprays is entirely avoided, the soil is enriched with organic matter and microorganisms, and irrigation relies on water from the Turtmanntal valley. The harvested grapes are transported to Unterbäch and gently vinified by hand in the estate's own small winery.
