About the estate

The Dr. H. Thanisch, Erben Müller-Burggraef KG estate stands for centuries of winemaking tradition in Bernkastel-Kues on the Mosel and cultivates sites such as the famous Berncasteler Doctor. The steep vineyards are characterized by mineral-rich slate soils formed over millions of years, offering optimal conditions for the vines. Due to the significant slope inclination, vineyard management and grape harvesting in these sun-drenched sites require manual labor throughout the entire year. The production of the wines takes place predominantly in the over 350-year-old Berncasteler Doctorkeller, which has been carved into the rock. Following predominantly spontaneous fermentation, the Riesling wines mature traditionally in stainless steel tanks as well as in typical Mosel oak casks.

The eno directory lists 11 wines, mostly from Riesling. The estate sells to importers and distributors. Export markets include France, Czechia, Spain and Slovakia.
