The Domaine Schmitt Jean-Paul estate is located in Scherwiller in the Alsace region and produces wines under the AOC Alsace denomination. The south-southeast facing vineyards feature granite arena soils as well as deep sandy soils with red clay layers. The winery applies organic and biodynamic methods and has been certified by Demeter France since the 2015 vintage. Operations include manual harvesting, horse-drawn soil cultivation in older parcels, and long, gentle whole-bunch pressing. Bernd Koppenhöfer has strengthened the company since 2003 to serve customers in Europe and Asia.
