Domaine Mamaruta

About the estate

The Domaine Mamaruta estate is located in La Palme on the coast of the Aude department within the Fitou appellation. Winemaker Marc Castan took over his grandfather's vineyard in 2003 and vinified his first vintages in 2009. Spanning twelve hectares, the vineyards feature grape varieties such as Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Grenache growing on soils composed of rolled pebbles and clay-limestone. The estate applies natural farming methods involving manual labor, the use of horses, and treatments based exclusively on sulfur, green clay, and herbal decoctions. Harvesting is done entirely by hand in the mornings to preserve natural acidity and ensure fruit quality.
