Domaine des Schistes

About the estate

The estate Domaine des Schistes located in Estagel in the Roussillon region farms 50 hectares of vineyards under EU organic certification initiated in 2010. Jacques and Nadine left the cooperative winery in 1989 to rehabilitate the family cellar dating back to 1906 in the village center, and Mickaël joined the winery in 2004 after studies. The vineyards are spread across Estagel and Tautavel on predominantly schist soils, alongside alluvial soils in the plain designated as IGP Côtes Catalanes. The viticulture involves 80 separate plot selections vinified individually in concrete vats and large oak containers ranging from 600 liters to 20 hectoliters. The estate is listed in the directory of the Vignerons Indépendants de France. The product range includes the Illico line featuring wines from younger vines on deep soils and the Essencial line representing a blend from the schist hillsides of the Tautavel garrigue. The production covers the denominations AOC Côtes du Roussillon, AOC Côtes du Roussillon Villages, AOC Muscat de Rivesaltes, AOC Rivesaltes, Côtes Catalanes IGP, and Maury.
