About the estate
The family-run Domaine de Montplo estate is situated in the south-west of the Saint-Chinian appellation in the municipality of Cruzy on a plateau at an altitude of 200 metres. Winemaker Jean-Michel Consul established the winery in 2003, continuing the viticultural tradition of his parents and grandparents. The vineyards are planted on a Villafranchienne terrace featuring clay-limestone soils and acidic sandy-clay soils. The grape varieties cultivated include Grenache noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Carignan noir and Cinsault, featuring Carignan vines that are over 80 years old. The vines are managed using traditional bush vine training methods.
