Der Zweiger

About the estate

The Der Zweiger winery based in Mooskirchen in West Styria was founded in 1960 by Ferdinand Zweiger and is now managed by the third generation of the family. Across twelve hectares of vineyards, approximately fifty percent of the area is planted with Schilcher and thirty percent with Pinot Blanc, with the remaining twenty percent comprising Welschriesling, Yellow Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Zweigelt. The soils and the microclimate of the individual sites impart a distinctive minerality and fruit typicity to the wines. Vinification is largely carried out classically in stainless steel tanks, alongside the application of modern techniques such as cold maceration and the production of Frizzante.
