About the estate
The Contratto estate was founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Contratto in Canelli, Piedmont, and is one of the historic producers of bottle-fermented sparkling wines in Italy. The Rivetti family acquired the winery in 2011 and has since practiced organic farming with low yields in the vineyards. Near Bossolasco, the estate cultivates high-altitude vineyards with limestone soils for the production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The underground Cathedral of Wine, where the metodo classico sparkling wines age, is officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The portfolio includes wines and sparkling wines from denominations such as Alta Langa DOCG and Asti Spumante DOCG.
