About the estate
The Cave Coopérative de Berlou is situated on the foothills of the Cévennes and has a history tracing back to Charlemagne. Classified under the AOC Saint Chinian in 1982, the estate encompasses 230 hectares of vineyards divided into 700 parcels. The primary soils consist entirely of a rare Lower Ordovician schist and sandstone formation that accumulates solar heat and releases it during the night. The grape varieties cultivated include Carignan, along with Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, as well as white and various other grapes. The sheltered microclimate and intense sunshine provide ideal conditions for achieving remarkable maturity in the grapes.
