About the estate

Located in Salgesch in the Valais, the Cave Biber estate was founded in 1971 by René Mathier, who initially focused on Pinot Noir and expanded the vineyard area to over five hectares. Later, Jürg Biber took over the winery and, in response to climate change, introduced late-ripening grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec. Since 2022, the winery has been structured as a corporation managed by an interdisciplinary team, which includes estate manager and winemaker Remo Meyer. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles, and the wines are produced under the AOC Valais denomination. The portfolio includes various autochthonous and international grape varieties as well as blends.

The eno directory lists 30 wines, mostly from Merlot and Heida.
