About the estate

The Castello di Cacchiano estate is located in Gaiole in Chianti in Tuscany and is managed by Giovanni Ricasoli-Firidolfi, whose family has shaped the history of the region for centuries. The origins of the property date back to the tenth century when the Ricasoli family built the fortress on Roman foundations. The vineyards cover 36 hectares on the plateau of Monti in Chianti at an altitude of 340 to 490 meters above sea level. The soils, consisting of clay and silt with debris of marly limestone and calcareous sandstone, shape the character of the wines. The cultivated grape varieties include Sangiovese, Colorino, Malvasia Nera, Malvasia Bianca, Canaiolo, and the international variety Merlot.

The eno directory lists 6 wines, mostly from Sangiovese.
