About the estate

Cantina Castello di Uviglie in Rosignano Monferrato is one of the oldest wine producers in Piedmont with a history dating back to 1491. Over the centuries, the estate passed through the hands of prominent Italian families, including the Counts Pico Gonzaga and the Counts Cacherano di Bricherasio. Today, the winery is managed by the Bonzano family, who cultivate the native grape varieties Barbera, Grignolino, and Albarossa with a young team and modern technology. The wines are partly aged in underground stone quarries featuring natural temperatures and humidity. The terroir in Monferrato is characterized by white marl, a limestone and clay rock formation originating from ancient marine deposits.

The eno directory lists 15 wines, mostly from Barbera.
