About the estate
The Babits Pincészet estate is based in the Tokaj-Hegyalja region, with a family history tracing back to the era of King Bela IV. The first-class vineyards are situated on the south-southeast slopes of the Zemplén Mountains, specifically in the Poklos vineyard in Szegi, the Vay vineyard in Olaszliszka, and the Kincsem vineyard in Tolcsva. The winery cultivates typical regional grape varieties such as Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Sárgamuskotály, producing traditional styles including Tokaji Aszú as well as sweet and dry Szamorodni. Harvesting begins manually in late October, followed by gentle pressing and traditional aging in oak barrels. For maturation, the estate utilizes historic cellars carved into rhyolite tuff that feature walls covered in noble rot.
The eno directory lists 6 wines, mostly from Sárga Muskotály.
